The CBQF/LAE Research Seminar "Microplastics: A New Challenge for Lactic Acid Bacteria" with Sylwia Ścieszka, researcher and academic teacher in the Institite of Fermentation Technology and Microbiology Lodz University of Technology, Poland, will take place on April 11, at 2:00 pm, in Arménio Miranda Auditorium, in the Biotechnology Building.

Abstract
The seminar will focus on plastics – their growing global production, main categories, and everyday applications. Special attention will be given to microplastics: their origin, impact on health and the environment, and the current analytical methods used to identify them. Additionally, the influence of probiotics on microplastics and the effect microplastics may have on probiotics will be briefly discussed.
