PhD in Biotechnology with specialization in Microbiology from the Catholic University of Portugal. Graduate and master’s in microbiology from the Catholic University of Portugal. His research interests focus on 3 areas: i) Upcycling of agri-food by-products in the context of circular economy; ii) Validation of biological properties in cellular models, with a focus on modelling inflammatory activity and the production of metabolites of cosmeceutical, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical interest; iii) Development of nanotechnological solutions for the delivery of bioactive compounds in cellular models. Eduardo is co-author of more than 90 internationally indexed publications and several book chapters. In addition, he is Managing Editor of the journal Frontiers in Microbiology, member of the thematic advisory panel of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and member of the CBQF Safety Committee.
