Master's in Applied Microbiology

I completed my undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the Biotechnology College, followed by a Master's degree in Applied Microbiology. After graduation I was a visiting researcher and assistant at the same institution, later starting a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (at the University of Porto). Currently I am a Blaschko research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Oxford.

The Master's degree in Applied Microbiology brought out my passion for research, providing me with extensive laboratory experience and the opportunity to conduct my thesis in collaboration with other institutions, which strengthened my adaptability and preparedness for different national and international scientific environments.

Graduate Researcher and Visual Artist
Master's in Applied Microbiology

As a Biotechnology graduate with a minor in Chemistry from Arkansas State University, the MSc in Applied Microbiology was a life-changing experience. Currently, I'm looking to broaden my horizons as a researcher and artist. A key point was my thesis project with SIMDOURO SA, which allowed me to manage complex biological data and take ownership of my goals. Beyond the research, I found a supportive community that never let go of my hand. This program reaffirmed my passion for science and taught me to face challenges with humility and compassion. I graduated not only as a researcher but also as someone who understands the value of perseverance and genuine connection.

Biorbis
Master's in Applied Microbiology

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (2016), a Master’s degree in Applied Microbiology (2018), and a PhD in Biotechnology, with a specialization in Microbiology (2024), from the Faculty of Biotechnology of Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

During my Master’s degree, I participated in the Erasmus programme at the University of Reading, where I investigated the impact of insect-based flours on the human gut microbiome. This experience, combined with my academic training, provided me with scientific tools and skills to collaborate with professionals from different fields, allowing me to maintain an interdisciplinary, up-to-date, and adaptable approach to the challenges of scientific research and industry.

Between 2019 and 2023, I worked as a Laboratory Assistant in the Alchemy project, a partnership between Amyris Bio Products Portugal and Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Since 2023, I have been working as an Innovation Scientist at Biorbis, where I develop sustainable bioactive ingredients, focusing on animal and human health.
