The School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University and the Portuguese Society of Biotechnology organize the annual Biotechnology Olympiad. Aimed at high school students, this event wants to:
- Promote scientific and technological culture among young high school students.
- Enhance knowledge of biotechnology across its many facets.
- Foster interest in nationwide scientific activities.
The 20th Biotechnology Olympiad will consist of a local qualifier and a national meet. For the first time, the national event will include a practical laboratory test (the photo above was taken at the 2025 lab test). Below are the key dates for 2026:
- Registration: Open until January 14, 2026.
- Qualifier: February 4, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
- Finals: April 24th, from 10:00 to 6:00 PM.
Registration must be completed via this form. Each participating school is required to appoint a teacher to oversee student participation. This teacher will receive detailed instructions by email on January 22, 2026.
