Friday, January 31, 2025 - 10:16

The 20th International Plant Nutrition Colloquium (IPNC) will take place from July 22 to 25, 2025, at the Alfândega Porto Congress Centre in Porto, Portugal. This prestigious event, a key gathering in the field of plant nutrition, is organized by Marta Vasconcelos, an Auxiliary Professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology (ESB), a member of the Board of Directors of ESB, and a researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF).

With the theme "Cultivating Resilience: Plant Nutrition for Food, Feed, and Health", the colloquium will address crucial research areas, including nutrient uptake, transport and homeostasis, innovative technologies for nutrient management, plant nutrients’ impact on human health, and climate change effects on plant nutrition. The event will bring together students, agronomists, nutritionists, researchers, industry members, policymakers, and scientists from public and private sectors involved in plant and human nutrition, fertilizer production, plant biology, genetics, agronomy, horticulture, ecology, and environmental sciences. The submission of scientific abstracts to participate in this colloquium with oral presentations or posters is open until February 17th.

As part of the IPNC program, the first day will feature the RARE FOOD FAIR, the final event of the RADIANT project, coordinated by Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). The fair aims to showcase local, regional, and organic products cultivated through sustainable agricultural practices. All those interested in participating as exhibitors at this fair are kindly requested to contact the organization via the email joana@ipnc2025.org.

Marta Vasconcelos expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating: "We are thrilled to host the 20th IPNC in Porto, a city known for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. This colloquium is a fantastic opportunity to foster discussions, share groundbreaking research, and strengthen collaborations that will shape the future of plant nutrition and sustainability."
