Teresa Maria Ribeiro da Silva Brandão

Bio

Teresa Brandão graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering / University of Porto in 1990. She completed the curricular part of the Master's degree in Food Science and Technology at ESB-UCP in 1992. She held a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology with a specialization in Food Science and Engineering from ESB-UCP, in 2004. During her doctoral program, she attained postgraduate courses in data analysis and experimental design at the University of California, Davis, USA.

From 1991 to the present, she has been lecturing as an Invited Assistant Professor at ESB-UCP course units in engineering and mathematics domains.

Her research interests focus on mild thermal and non-thermal food processes, approaching quality and safety characteristics, and exploitation of bioactive and nutritive compounds of fruit wastes, seeking the development of new strategies to add value to these products. She co-authored more than 100 internationally peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has been involved in the supervision of 7 Ph.D. theses and 10 Master's theses at ESB-UCP; she has participated in several national and international funded projects; she is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Food Studies.
She is currently a researcher at CBQF.
