UCP-Porto is looking for Portuguese farmers to participate in trials to measure the benefits of legumes using easy-to-use monitoring methods.
The LegumES project aims to tackle the main challenges of modern agriculture, focusing on the environmental, economic, and social benefits of legume crops. It promotes legume cultivation as a solution to reduce dependence on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, lower greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil health, and create more diverse and resilient cropping systems.
We are looking for Participatory Farmers to measure the benefits associated with legumes. On-farm trials are a crucial first step in understanding how we can attribute value to the ecosystem services provided by legumes.
The project will provide practical and scalable solutions that contribute to agricultural sustainability and will inform policy and governance options across Europe.
Become a LegumES farmer. Together, we will provide evidence of the ecosystem benefits of legumes. All participating farmers will receive financial support as well as guidance on trial design and monitoring.
