Palestrante: Drª María Luisa Rúa

María Luisa Rúa is an Assistant Prof. at the University of Vigo where she teaches Food Chemistry and Enzyme Technology. She integrates the Biochemistry Laboratory, whose major research target is the development of enzyme-based processes for the food, biofuels and fine chemistry industries. She has expertise in the identification and characterization of new biocatalysts and their preparative-scale production through microbial cultivation technology. Main focuses are esterases, lipases and proteases accessed by screening (strain collections and search in thermal environments), cloning and functional expression in suitable microbial hosts, plants or commercially available
