PhD in Biotechnology and degree in Microbiology from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Raquel Madureira is an Assistant Professor at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, where she teaches Industrial Microbiology. Her research interests focus on the process development for the recovery of industrial waste/by-products and the development of innovative products for human, animal and cosmetic food, in response to the needs and demands of the population and the environment.

Special interests in the development of simulation models of biological phenomena, such as the microbiome and the biotransformation of compounds. As well as cellular health research, focusing on the different hallmarks of aging and its prevention.

Member of several European project evaluation panels and editorial panels of scientific journals. She is co-author of more than 80 internationally indexed publications and has been involved in the supervision of 21 doctoral and master theses. She is currently the leader of the research group “Fermentation Solutions” at CBQF, the research center of the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia.
