Universidade Católica reinvents food safety education

On World Food Safety Day, we celebrate not only a global cause, but also a shared responsibility among all those working to ensure that the food reaching our tables is safe, sustainable, and trustworthy.

Managing food risk has never been more challenging. Supply chains are increasingly complex, regulatory requirements more demanding, consumers better informed, and emerging threats, from climate change to new food production technologies, require ever more sophisticated responses.

In a sector undergoing rapid and profound transformation, leaders need new tools, new knowledge, and a new approach to decision-making.

It is against this backdrop that Universidade Católica Portuguesa, with more than 20 years of experience in training outstanding food professionals, is preparing something new, set to launch in February 2027.

Something innovative. Something specifically designed for senior executives leading organisations and teams in the field of food safety, who need to remain at the forefront of knowledge and practice.

Today's and tomorrow's challenges

The new programme has been designed to meet the sector’s real-world needs, combining academic rigour with a highly practical approach. Several themes will be at its core.

Food risk management: Modern frameworks for risk analysis, assessment, and communication, with a strong focus on decision-making under conditions of uncertainty.

Emerging technologies: The role of data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in monitoring, traceability, and the prevention of food safety incidents.

Sustainability and emerging challenges: Novel foods, the circular economy, global regulatory pressures, and the intersection between food safety and environmental sustainability.

The programme will be delivered by nationally and internationally recognised experts and tailored for professionals who refuse to compromise on quality.

Applications are not yet open, but more information will be released soon. If you work in food safety and want to stay ahead of the curve, now is the time to keep an eye on what is coming.
