The Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) took part in the 1st National Conference of the Portuguese Association for Science Management, which marked the official launch of the new association representing professionals in the field of science management. “The strategic role of science managers in Portugal – challenges and opportunities” was the main theme of the roundtable discussion in which CBQF participated.

The event brought together science managers from across the country, as well as researchers, institutional representatives, and policymakers, for a day dedicated to dialogue, experience sharing, and collaborative reflection on the strategic role of science management within the national research system.

The Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) of the Faculty of Biotechnology at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa was represented by Mariana Bexiga, Head of Strategy and Value Creation at CBQF, who took part in the roundtable discussion. “CBQF recognises the crucial role of Science Managers in promoting research excellence. We are proud to have participated in this landmark event for the Portuguese science management community and to contribute to the increased recognition of these professionals,” she stated.

The conference, held on October 8, 2025, at the University of Aveiro, aimed to officially present the association, strengthen the identity and recognition of the science management profession, and discuss future trends and challenges in science, innovation, and funding policies.
