The notion of identity simultaneously invokes continuity and a sense of belonging, but also its ongoing reconfiguration, shaped by cultural, social, economic and political dynamics, as well as the growing impact of science and technology. Starting from the city of Porto, we propose a reflection on how urban identities are built and transformed, between memory and the future, in a time marked by digital transformation and new ways of experiencing public space. We will also look at identity through two transitions that are reshaping how we live: the environmental transition (energy, mobility, resources) and the food transition (production, consumption, health, social justice). These transitions are not merely technical agendas. They become part of what a city is, what it values, and what it chooses to protect.
