The future we face is complex. The sustainability of the planet, the development and massification of artificial intelligence, the burden of non-communicable diseases, the need for inclusivity and to reduce inequality are huge challenges that Society faces. These challenges require new generations of professionals equipped with naturally interdisciplinary knowledge and skills.

It is with this in mind that the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia presents its new BSc in Liberal Sciences. In this course students will study Science in the context of Society in order to give them the knowledge and skills to play a meaningful part in addressing the great challenges of the day and in doing so - reinvent the near future.

Starting with a  disciplinary base centered on biosciences, chemistry and technology and complemented with subjects from various branches of the humanities and social sciences (law, philosophy, psychology and management), the individual student will shape their learning path.
