Introduction to Bioprocess Engineering

5 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese

Objectives and competences

This course aims to provide knowledge about various equipment and operations used in processes, as well as about some natural processes (human body) or those used in the biomedical field (bioprocesses). It also aims to provide tools

that enable the analysis of a process, namely knowledge about material and energy balances, as well as knowledge of specific equations (constraints) that characterize certain equipment/processes.
The goal is for the student to be able to analyze a process in terms of material and energy balances.

Teaching Methodologies

Lectures focused on structured presentation of concepts. Problem-solving sessions to consolidate learning.
Active learning strategies to promote autonomy and critical thinking.
