On July 13, 2023, the Director of ESB, Prof. Doctor Paula Castro, awarded the best students of the 1st year of the ESB degrees and even delivered the “Student of the Year” distinction.

Ana Francisca Nogueira (best average in Bioengineering), Alexandre Nascimento (best average in Nutritional Sciences) and Artem Suprinovych (best average in Microbiology) have very different backgrounds but one thing in common: they are excellent students. They received the Future Memory Award awarded by the ESB based on the classification at the end of the normal 1st year exam season. Their schools of origin also received a commemorative plaque: Almeida Garrett Secondary School in the case of Alexandre and Dr. Joaquim Gomes Ferreira Alves Secondary School in the case of Francisca. Artem is originally from Ukraine and as such it was not possible to involve his school.

The distinction "Student of the Year" was awarded to André Roseiro, from the Master in Food Engineering. This award results from the analysis of a jury (composed of elements from Católica Porto) of the nominations that all ESB students had the opportunity to send. The goal is to value students who stood out for their behavior and ability to help their colleagues, create a more welcoming, inclusive and tolerant environment or mark the life of their community in some notable way, inside or outside the college. The prize consists of a package of adventure experiences.
