Tuesday, December 9, 2025 - 10:19

The Faculty of Biotechnology of Universidade Católica Portuguesa hosted the International Workshop of the Erasmus+ T-GREEN project – “Transforming Graduate Education for a Green and Sustainable Future in Armenia” – bringing together higher education institutions and organisations from Armenia and several European countries to discuss how to develop more sustainable and interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes.

Over the five days of the event, participants attended plenary sessions, presentations, and working groups, addressing topics such as the legal framework for implementing joint/multiple Master’s programs, adapting curricula to new Armenian legislation, and exchanging best practices between European and Armenian institutions. The program also included visits to the biotechnology research facilities at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) at ESB-UCP, providing a practical perspective on the operation of integrated laboratories and research services.

The three-year T-GREEN project aims to support universities in transitioning from traditional programs to future-oriented curricula, promoting sustainability, interdisciplinarity, and student mobility. The workshop strengthened the skills of administrative teams, decision-makers, policymakers, faculty, researchers, and students, equipping them to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals and environmental issues into postgraduate education.

Armenian participants included the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, the National Center for Quality Assurance, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (coordinator), Eurasia International University, Yerevan State University, the State University of Economics of Armenia, the French University of Armenia, the National Polytechnic University, the National Agrarian University of Armenia, Goris State University, Gavar State University, as well as the Erasmus Student Network Yerevan and Bridge of Hope organizations.

European partners included the International Hellenic University (Greece), Mykolo Romerio Universitetas (Lithuania), Jagiellonian University of Krakow (Poland), and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portugal).

The workshop, held from 1 to 5 December 2025, strengthened international cooperation, fostered the exchange of experiences, and consolidated efforts to transform postgraduate education towards a greener and more sustainable future.
