TEX4WOUNDS Project develops biomaterials for the treatment of chronic wounds

Ana Leite Oliveira, researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), participates in the TEX4WOUNDS project with the aim of developing a range of advanced medical devices for cleaning and treating chronic wounds.

TEX4WOUNDS is developing simple and effective dressing materials for wound cleaning and debridement, as well as more complex materials with super-absorbent properties and promoting wound healing and healing.

The area of ​​wounds, and in particular chronic wounds, is a global problem. Chronic wounds have a high incidence that will tend to increase with population ageing, with around a fifth of the population over 65 years old suffering from this problem in Europe.
