PhD in Biotechnology (Chemistry specialisation) by Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Raquel Mesquita graduated in Microbiology from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and holds an MSc in Biotechnology by De Montfort University (UK), is a researcher at CBQF and invited assistant professor at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, teaching different subjects related to Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Methods of Analysis.

Her research interests are focussed on the automation and miniaturization of chemical and biochemical analysis, namely the development of microfluidic devices for in-situ analysis of biomedical, environmental and food samples. She is co-author of over 60 scientific papers in peer review ranked science journals, has supervised 11 master thesis in Biomedical Engineering and co-supervised 2 PhD thesis. She has also been involved in extension activity, namely leading the Task force of “Internal Engagement”, responsible for organizing seminar and other events of internal dissemination.
