João Pedro Bebiano e Costa is a Scientific Researcher and Innovation Technology Manager affiliated with CBQF - Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry at Universidade Catolica Portuguesa, Porto. Additionally, he holds the position of Professor of Tissue Engineering and Biofabrication at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto. He earned his doctoral degree in Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering, and Stem Cells from the University of Minho, Braga, in 2019. In 2022, he expanded his expertise by completing an MBA in Hospital Administration and Health Management at the University of Nebrija, Madrid. His research pursuits are deeply rooted in the fields of Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, and Biofabrication, with a specific focus on 3D Printing technologies for the development of personalized implants.
His dedication to advancing these fields was recently recognized through a prestigious contract obtained via the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), Portugal. This six-year research project – “MOTION: Multi-biofabrication Of paTient-specific tIssues fOr regeneration of kNee meniscus” - is dedicated to the pioneering field of biofabrication for orthopedic tissues, particularly in the context of knee meniscus regeneration. His contribution to the scientific community contemplates a portfolio of 30+ published scientific articles, authorship or co-authorship of 3 international patents, and several oral lectures at national and international congresses.
