Some stories begin in the classroom and make their way to pharmacy shelves. Tiago Ferreira’s journey - an alumnus of the Faculty of Biotechnology at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he graduated in Microbiology - is one of them. And it's far from over.

Today, at 29 years old, Tiago Ferreira is CEO and co-founder of Suplendi, a Portuguese startup specializing in dietary supplements, based in Póvoa de Varzim. In 2026, the company is preparing to take two significant steps rarely achieved at this stage: entering the national pharmacy network and expanding into the Spanish market.

Training that shaped a vision

We believe that the Undergraduate Degree in Microbiology at the Faculty of Biotechnology was more than just a line on the résumé. It marked the beginning of a way of thinking about science, applied to everyday life with rigor, evidence, and responsibility.

After graduating, Tiago Ferreira worked at dietary supplement companies in Portugal and England. It was during this journey that he identified the problem that Suplendi wanted to solve: doing it better with a creative, transparent brand, grounded in science.

Two years in the lab

Suplendi was co-founded by Tiago Ferreira, Carlos Oliveira, and Nicola Bandeira, and from the start the premise guiding them was clear: no product would reach the market without passing scientific scrutiny.

The brand's first supplement, Hang Out, took two years to develop in the lab. It was formulated to eliminate toxins from the body, reduce the effects of dietary excesses and promote metabolic balance and daily well-being.

It is produced entirely in Portugal, with carefully selected ingredients, clinically relevant doses, and pharmaceutical-quality control according to GMP standards.
