PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2017 by University of Minho and BSc degree in Análises Clínicas e Saúde Pública in 2010 by Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde do Porto - Instituto Politécnico do Porto. Daniela Machado is a junior researcher in Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina (CBQF), Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB) da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, participating in the teaching of the curricular units of Microbiology and Health and Advanced Clinical Microbiology.
Her research interests are focused on the study of commensal intestinal strains that are considered candidates to probiotics, exploring their beneficial properties, as well as the development of vectors for their transport and release in the intestinal environment, providing novel probiotic products in the form of pharmaceutical formulations, food supplements or functional foods. She had authorship in more than 10 internationally indexed publications, 4 book chapters, more than 20 communications (oral / poster), having supervised of 2 MSc theses. In addition, she was an examiner in 6 MSc theses and is a member of the CBQF Task Force “Society Engagement”.
