The ESB registers with profound sadness the passing of Professor António (Tony) Moreira of the University of Maryland, USA.  Earlier in his long and brilliant career Professor Moreira played a crucial role in the development of the ESB, both as part of its Scientific Advisory Board and in driving the exchange of students and staff with UM. He had remained a constant friend to the ESB and to the UCP until his passing and will be remembered with great fondness.
