As part of the CROSSPATHS project, the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) at the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa welcomed researchers from the Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMÜ), Estonia, and from Inlife, Poland, for a visit dedicated to reinforcing scientific cooperation. The initiative aimed to deepen mutual understanding of research areas, foster synergies, and explore opportunities for joint participation in future European funding calls.
During the visit, the delegations, composed of Reelika Rätsep and Sana Ben-Othman from EMÜ, and Mariola Słowińska, Sylwia Machcińska-Zielińska and Bartosz Fotschki from Inlife — met with Manuela Pintado, Director of CBQF and leader of the Bioactives and Bioproducts Research Group; Ana Gomes, leader of the Nutrition and Health Group; and Ana Leite Oliveira, leader of the Biomaterials and Biomedical Technologies Group. These meetings provided an opportunity to present ongoing research lines, identify shared interests, and discuss strategic directions for future international collaborations.
The dialogue also involved members of CBQF’s research groups, including Eduardo Costa, Sara Nunes Silva, Emília Brassesco and Tânia Ribeiro (Bioactives and Bioproducts); Beatriz Bernardes, Sara Amorim, Viviana Ribeiro and João Bebiano Costa (Biomaterials and Biomedical Technologies); Joana C. Barbosa (Nutrition and Health); and Clara Sousa (BioSignals and Data Analytics).
The visit also included guided tours of the research facilities of the four CBQF groups, giving the visiting researchers a detailed overview of the centre’s technological capabilities and experimental workflows.
