Over the course of three days, around 1,500 high school students and teachers will will take part in the Open Week at the Faculty of Biotechnology, where they will have the opportunity to explore the world of biotechnology through hands-on experiments led by researchers and professors from the Faculty of Biotechnology and the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry.
Participants will step into the role of "foodborne outbreak detectives", uncover "the chemistry behind flavours", learn about "water and its crucial role in life", explore "waste valorization for the creation of new foods and medicines", and engage in many other interactive experiences.
The Open Week at the Faculty of Biotechnology is an annual initiative designed to bring high school students closer to cutting-edge research and innovation in biotechnology.
This year’s edition will take place from April 2nd to April 4th, 2025, at the Biotechnology Building of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto.
