Molecular Detection and Process Monitoring

5 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese

Objectives and competences

Understand transduction (optical, electrochemical, mass) and instrumental methods (fluorescence, UV/IR, MS/MS).

Apply automation (FIA/SIA, microfluidic analysis) to achieve reproducible and greener analytical results. Analyze results with chemometrics (pre-processing, PCA, HCA, PLS) and validate performance (sensitivity, precision, accuracy, LOD/LOQ).

Integrate sensors with the data layer and automation (acquisition, synchronisation).

Design monitoring solutions for food/environmental/biological/biomedical processes

 

Teaching Methodologies

Lectures, carried out with significant interaction with students.

Tutorial classes aimed at discussing monitoring solutions for food/environmental/biological/biomedical processes.

Laboratory classes with a duration of three hours, involving the manipulation of instrumental methods discussed in the lectures.

Automatic methods of analysis (batch, continuous, robotic, microfluidics)

Molecular fluorescence spectroscopy

Principles and practice of analysis by mass spectrometry

Specificity tamdem MS-MS

Chemometrics: Basics of spectrometry data processing (principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis).
