Objectives and competences
The dissertation, representing 50% of the ECTS credits of the MSc Degree, contributes to the development of specialized skills. Most of the skills that are expected in a MSc of Biotechnology and Innovation will be accomplished throughout the thesis work. These skills include:
- Ability to deepen, develop and apply knowledge acquired during the first cycle degree, the previous professional experience and the curricular set of the MSc degree;
- Ability to integrate knowledge to solve complex issues, namely in the field of specialization;
- Ability to communicate objectively and clearly findings and knowledge in an unambiguous mode;
- Ability to foster independent lifelong learning, especially in the field of specialization.
Teaching Methodologies
The work will be closely followed by the thesis supervisor(s) and other senior researchers, in order to warrant progressing of the research. Regularly, the student will have to submit a summary of the work performed, reflecting the new findings, obstacles and solutions. This will allow evaluating the progress of the work.
Syllabus
The Master's thesis may correspond to a professional placement or to a scientific research project, leading to an original final report, within the field of specialization chosen by the student.
