What if you could grow vegetables at home and thereby contribute to more sustainable food systems? What if wild vegetables helped improve soil use impacts? These are the provocations of the legumES project, a research and innovation project scientifically coordinated by Pietro Iannetta of the James Hutton Institute, through his joint appointment as Assistant Professor at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Invited Senior Scientist at the PlanTech Research Group of the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), Faculty of Biotechnology, Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto.
The project, which has just begun its journey of research and innovation, aims to validate the benefits of vegetables for the ecosystem, namely, to urgently validate and quantify the "ecosystem services benefits" offered by vegetables.
