Faculty member and researcher of Faculty of Biotechnology elected as Councillor of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST)

Cristina L.M. Silva, faculty member and researcher of Faculty of Biotechnology, has been elected as a Councillor of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) for the 2024-2026 term. The election took place prior to the IUFoST General Assembly, and the result was officially communicated during the Assembly held in Rimini, Italy, on September 12th, 2024.

IAFoST is a globally renowned body of distinguished food scientists, technologists and engineers, recognized for their expertise. It serves as a key advisory group for IUFoST, providing independent, science-based guidance on food-related issues.

Already an IAFoST Fellow since 2022, Cristina Silva’s new role as Councillor places her in a leadership position to further advance food science, technology and engineering. She will play an important role in promoting education and training, fostering international collaboration, and upholding high standards of ethics and scientific excellence in the field.
