It is with great enthusiasm that we share that the BioUpCycle team, made up of Daniela Magalhães, Ana Margarida Vilas Boas, Marta Correia Coelho, Marta Cunha and Ana Sofia Sousa, was the big winner of the YOUAREIN Business Game 2025 final pitch - a European competition promoted by the YOUAREIN - YOUng AgRifood European INnovators project, within the framework of SciFoodHealth, with the support of the European Union.
The project presented by BioUpCycle proposes an innovative and sustainable approach to utilising agricultural waste, transforming it directly where it is generated into microbial inoculants and biostimulants. This circular, accessible and low environmental impact process aims to drive innovation in the agri-food sector, promoting greener and more effective solutions to current agricultural challenges.
The participation of the BioUpCycle team represented the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) and the Faculty of Biotechnology with distinction, alongside other European teams of excellence in the areas of food science and innovation.
This international recognition reinforces the institution's commitment to training young talent and developing sustainable solutions that contribute to the ecological transition and the valorisation of agri-food resources.
