The Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) is gearing up for its highly anticipated annual event, CBQF Day 2024, themed "How Green is Our Future?" Scheduled for June 3rd, this event promises a deep dive into the sustainability landscape, shedding light on critical environmental and nutritional topics.
With over 255 dedicated researchers, CBQF has emerged as a leading force in research across four distinct domains: Environment and Resources, Food and Nutrition, Biological and Biomedical Products, and Fermentation Solutions. This year's CBQF Day aims to showcase the institute's groundbreaking work and explore how it contributes to shaping a greener tomorrow.
The event will kick off at 9 am, with a Morning Opening Session led by CBQF Director, Manuela Pintado, followed by Short Talks from CBQF researchers. Under the great umbrella of sustainability, each research group will be invited to share its projects and practices within this scope, in an internal session that is expected to be diversified and enriching, mirroring the diversity of the groups within the center. After fueling up with a Coffee Break, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in Group Discussions, where current topics will be debated and solutions for a greener future will be proposed, in a session intended to be both reflective and a team building exercise. Following a shared lunch, the doors will be opened to the public, for the Afternoon Opening Session, once again led by CBQF Director, Manuela Pintado, who invites colleagues from other Associated Laboratories to join the researchers in-house for an afternoon of knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas. The afternoon will be filled with talks from invited researchers that will offer unique insights into related fields, namely, CESAM, CiBio and Green Up, followed by a Round Table Discussion with all the participants, rounding off the day's activities, that will close at 6 pm.
This is the second edition of CBQF Day, which debuted last year with the theme "Community microbiomes & microbiome communities," a topic of great importance and transversal to the whole research center.
This year’s event promises to be an enriching experience for all participants as they collectively explore the path towards a greener, more sustainable future.
