Bio

Graduated in Bioengineering and Master in Biomedical Engineering, both from Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB), Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Francisca Ferreira is currently a PhD student in Biotechnology at ESB and Invited Assistant Professor in the Analytical Chemistry course, taught in the Bioengineering and Microbiology degrees.

Her research interests focus on the automation and miniaturization of methods for chemical and biochemical analyses, with an emphasis on the development of paper-based devices for analysis of biological samples. She is the author of several articles in renowned international scientific journals in the area, one of which was chosen for the cover of the journal “Talanta”. Her work has already been presented at several international conferences, being awarded multiple times for best oral presentation. At the same time, she is part of the Taskforce Society Engagement, responsible for organizing events and initiatives for the dissemination of science in order to establish a connection between the ESB and the population (in particular high school students).
