Zhang Min, professor at the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, visited the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto for a meeting with Isabel Braga da Cruz, president of the Universidade Católica in Porto, Paula Castro, director of the Faculty of Biotechnology, and Manuela Pintado, director of the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry.
Zhang Min coordinates relations with Europe and was mandated for these visits by China's National Academy of Social Sciences, which works closely with her government.
The main objective of Zhang Min's visit to Portugal is "to understand Portuguese views on China today and what Universities, municipalities and cultural and economic institutions would expect from China to have a deeper relationship in the future". The opportunity of this meeting with the Universidade Católica is of “mutual interest”, and may result in “future partnerships”.
The visit, which was also attended by Paulo Duarte, from the Portugal-China Chamber of Cooperation and Development, took place during the morning of August 2 and included a moment for a meeting, another visit to the campus and even lunch.
