Barbara Correia graduated in Biology at the University of Aveiro (UA) in 2011, after a six-month ERASMUS training period with the EPIPHYSAGE research group in the University of Oviedo, and obtained her MSc degree in Applied Biology in UA in collaboration with ITQB in 2012. She completed her PhD in Biology (Specialization Biology and Applied Biosciences) in 2017 at the University of Aveiro. Herresearch focuses on investigating climate change (mainly drought and heat) responses in important Portuguese forest species (Quercus suber, Eucalyptus spp, Pinus spp). More specifically, her investigation work resorts to the application of different physiological, biochemical, metabolomic, proteomic and (epi)genetic tools in order to understand the cellular pathways responsible for tress' capacity to deal with stress and the mechanisms that enable recovery. She has been also involved in research dealing with biotic stress (Fusarium circinatumeffects in different pine species) and priming mechanisms (such as phosphite and salicylic acid application).
