Healthy and sustainable food choices: What future?

Subjects as diverse as “Human brain and planetary health”, “Financing Research and Innovation of Sustainable and Healthy Products” or “Sustainable and Healthy Food Choices – challenges from agricultural production to consumption barriers, product development and clinical validation ” will be up for debate at the Innovation Day of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Universidade Catolica in Porto, which will take place on the 21st of April, starting at 9:15 am. This year the theme is “Healthy and Sustainable Food Choices” and the admission is free.

Each year, we bring together representatives of companies, researchers and students to reflect on a topic for the future that will help to create greater and better articulation between all of us,” says Paula Castro, director of the Higher School of Biotechnology at the Catholic University of Portugal in Porto. “This year we give visibility to food choices – healthy and sustainable -, a dichotomy that coexists and needs everyone’s contribution to respond, including to Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Eradicate hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture,” adds Manuela Pintado, director of the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry.
