The Faculty of Biotechnology contributes to the creation of the Digital Innovation Hub for the Agri-Food Sector

The Faculty of Biotechnology (ESB) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto is a partner in the creation of the Digital Innovation Hub for the Agri-Food Sector (SFT-EDIH). This initiative serves as a reference point for the digitization of the sector, from agricultural production to food distribution, providing access to advanced technologies and support services to drive innovation and sustainability.

As part of this consortium of 28 leading institutions in the sector, the Faculty of Biotechnology is committed to promoting the adoption of key technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, data science, and others that can contribute to the sector's development in quality and productivity, as well as its digital transformation towards innovative responses to sustainability challenges.


Commitment to innovation and sustainability

ESB's partnership with SFT-EDIH reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability, while offering training opportunities, access to innovation networks, testing of digital solutions, and funding for SMEs and public sector entities.

SFT-EDIH is nationally recognized by IAPMEI and is part of a European network dedicated to accelerating the digital transition in the agri-food sector. The Hub aims to be a single access point for the digitization of the agri-food sector, from field to fork. This project represents a significant step towards driving digital transformation in the agri-food sector, contributing to the creation of a new value-added productive sector, the development of new products and services, and the promotion of sustainable solutions for future challenges.
