Researcher Marta Nunes da Silva, from the Centre of Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), has been honoured with the FESPB Young Researcher Prize 2025, awarded by the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB).

This biennial prize recognises young researchers who have distinguished themselves in the field of plant biology at a European level and represents a highly prestigious accolade within the international scientific community.

As part of this recognition, the researcher was invited to present her work at Plant Biology Europe 2025, the leading European conference in plant biology, which took place from 25 to 28 June in Budapest, Hungary. Her presentation, entitled “Inside the host: Mechanisms of tolerance and control against vascular pathogens,” addresses resistance processes and sustainable strategies for controlling pathogenic agents, focusing on two highly relevant agroforestry model systems.

In addition to institutional recognition, the prize is sponsored by the journal Physiologia Plantarum, which provides additional support to the winner, as well as an invitation from the Journal of Experimental Botany to publish an article, offering a valuable opportunity for international scientific dissemination.

For the researcher, "This prize is not only a recognition of my individual work but also of the stimulating scientific environment and continuous support I have found at CBQF."
