CBQF promotes research on antibiotic resistance: Take part in the survey

Tuesday, March 31, 2026 - 15:29
The Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, at the Faculty of Biotechnology of Universidade Católica Portuguesa is promoting a study on the impact of environmental exposures on the development of antibiotic-resistant infections.

Antibiotic-resistant infections represent a growing global concern, and it is suggested that they may not originate solely in hospitals. In this context, CBQF researchers aim to understand whether everyday environmental exposures, such as contact with water, soil, animals, or outdoor air, may play a relevant role in the development of these infections.

To support this research, a short, fully anonymous questionnaire is available, which takes only a few minutes to complete. The initiative is open to the entire population.

The study follows the “One Health” approach, which links human, environmental, and animal health.

Community participation is essential to deepen knowledge in this area and to contribute to more effective strategies for preventing antibiotic resistance.

Those interested are invited to share the initiative and respond to the survey, available here.

The Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry thanks everyone for their collaboration.
